A quick train journey from London and we arrive to our Georgian country house. Overlooking the Fowey Valley, this will be our Cornwall base for this weekend. Once settled down, why not try one of the local real ale and have a chat in a pretty country pub.
After a hearty breakfast let's jump on our bikes and through beautiful Fowey River Valley on famous Clay Trails we will get to the Eden Project soon. Have you cameras ready as the Fowey Valley with typical English rural villages is a real hidden gem.
The Fowey River Valley
Situated in the heart of Cornwall, and carrying the run off from the wild Bodmin Moor to the coast, the River Fowey is a majestic and ever changing tidal river holding an amazing variety of scenery from dark forest, hidden creeks, rich meadowland, timeless villages and the coastal panoramas of the natural harbour at Polruan and Fowey.
Come and encounter, using cycles and your own two feet, the best of this unspoilt and remote valley which teems with estuary and coastal wildlife, from its imposing castle inland at Restormel to the rugged cliffs where the river joins the sea.
Once we reach the Eden project quick lunch will boost our energy and then let's discover this unique site. Again have you cameras ready as this place will take your breath away.
The Eden Project is a large-scale environmental complex trying out new ideas and ways of thinking. The complex comprises a number of domes that house plant species from around the world, with each emulating a natural biome. The domes are made out of hundreds of hexagons plus a few pentagons that interconnect the whole construction together; each of these is a transparent cushion made of tough plastic. The first dome emulates a tropical environment, the second a warm temperate, Mediterranean environment.
To fully enjoy summer sun and hot of the day we will spent the rest of the day on one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, Span Sands beach. Don't forget your sun cream!
After such an amazing day you will be surely thirsty, so after a delicious dinner prepared by our hosts, we will enjoy a pint of a good ale or traditional cider.
To start a good day, big and tasty breakfast is very important. Take your place and enjoy it.
It's Sunday so you deserve to relax. And what could be better then a gently walk to wonderful port Fowey and indulge ice cream by the sea. Or are you more on fish&chips side?
