The Thames Towpath & the Chiltern Way
Program: This satisfying walk runs between the affluent Thames towns of Henley and Marlow, passing through Chilterns village of Hambleden en route. The route from Henley runs along the east bank of the Thames, past rowing clubs housed in neat pavilions and elegant villas with wooden boathouses. At Hambleden Lock we cross the Thames over a roaring weir to Mill’s End. From here the route leaves the river and runs across meadows to the unspoilt little village of Hambleden . Beyond Hambleden, a steep climb takes us into the Chilterns, after which the route – now following the Chilterns Way – levels out, taking us across farmland and downs and through two dense stretches of woodland: Homefield and Davenport woods. From there we descend via minor roads, into Marlow.
