Immigrant 007- Dark and delirious electronica meets post punk embracing all the best bits of Ultravox!, Joy Division, Magazine and OMD. And the 007 suffix gets a certain nod and a wink too with the filmic/soundtrackesque qualities of some of the play here. From the ashes of Czech alterno poppers Mastermindz, purveyors of a trulywonderful sound. Tip Of The Lips- French act embracing a very early Bjork like thang c/o the vocals of one kooky kool singer Elodie Balthazard …but there’s post baggy beats and something of the vocal style of that Harriet Sundays…knowing and full of charm. Techy adventurous danceable pop with them breathy little girl vocals. nteresting. Hands Off Industry- 80′s synth pop with a rather grandiose sub industrial sound coming on very Depeche Mode but definitely their darker druggier schtick via a dose of Sisters Of Mercy, swimmingly well done as it goes. Syndrome- New wave pop, some nice swirling Stranglers like keyboards and there’s a Magazine vibe too, good stuff, short sharp hooky tunes, from Belgium so no it’s not all chocolate, Tin Tin and Poirot you cheeky monkey.
