A couple of years ago, I was on a roof in the O'Hare International Airport area surveying a prospective client's [url=http://www.automotivedrivingbelt.com/]Rubber Timing Belt[/url] to ascertain make, model and condition. I was doing this to develop pricing for a preventive maintenance program. I was on the roof on Wednesday and coincidentally the incumbent service provider had been there on Monday performing the quarterly maintenance on this same equipment. I share this story because it was the genesis of an epiphany. I was suddenly struck with what has become a problem in the HVAC service industry and in many other business arenas today. I opened and removed the panels on the units and noted a severely cracked drive belt on the fan motor. Now the way an air conditioner works, the belt is an integral item as it drives the fan, forcing the air to move into the facility. If the belt breaks, the fan becomes stationary and no air enters the facility. I also noticed that just a few inches away was a brand new belt that had been staged for easy replacement when needed. It turns out that the belt broke on Sunday six days after the supposed maintenance had been performed. The client called the current vendor for service and since it was a Sunday the hourly labor rate was double with a two hour minimum travel charge. The technician drove to the site, climbed the ladder, removed the panel and took the spare belt that was there and used it replace the broken one.
